During the ninth apparition on February 25, 1858, Our Lady of Lourdes instructed St. Bernadette Soubirous to dig in the mud, drink the dirty water, and eat herbs at the grotto. This profound act of humility and obedience initiated the miraculous, continuously flowing spring at Lourdes, symbolizing spiritual cleansing for sinners and leading to countless physical healings.

Key Aspects of the Event:

Significance: The muddy water represented the human heart wounded by sin, while the clearing spring represented the life of God.

The Action: Bernadette obeyed the Lady despite being mocked by the crowd who thought she was mad, rubbing her face with mud and drinking the filthy water.

Purpose: It was an act of penance (as the lady said, "Penance, penance, penance") and trust.

Outcome: A tiny spring appeared and quickly began flowing with clear water, which continues to flow at a rate of 32,000 gallons per day, associated with 72 Church-approved miraculous healings

This beautiful/glorified 28" tall statue features a full length (head to foot) white lace over light blue satin mantle, hand-made tiny rosary in hands, bejeweled/beaded halo and cloth flowers.

Your statue will be touched to a 2nd class relic of St. Bernadette with special prayers when finished.

Oh Ever Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Comfortess of the Afflicted, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings. Look upon me with mercy. When you appeared in the grotto of Lourdes, you made it a privileged sanctuary where you dispense your favors, and where many sufferers have obtained the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and corporal. I come, therefore, with unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. My loving Mother, obtain my request. I will try to imitate your virtues so that I may one day share your company and bless you in eternity. Amen.

Heavenly Saints is a Roman Catholic Lay Apostolate for the Saints inspired by our Blessed Mother Mary, and under her patronage as Our Mother of Good Counsel, together with Saint John Neumann, Saint Rita of Cascia and Saint Damien deVeuster of Molokai.
